ahhhh the golden days of being able to trick parents into thinking that you're sick and need to stay home from school.  

Unfortunately I was too nerdy to ever try some of these techniques to get out of school.  

My best attempts were when I was 4 years old and my parents would drive me to the daycare center...I was really afraid of the teacher.  We would play outside and then before being allowed back in, each person had to give her a kiss on the cheek.  Imagine 30 sweaty kids wanting to enter a room.  Now imagine being the 20th kid in line.....IT'S GROSS

So as a frightened little boy, I used to pretend that I was too sleepy to go to school as we drove to school.  I thought that if was sleeping, my parents wouldn't want to wake me up and make me go the the daycare.  Unfortunately it never worked and so I just ended up crying a lot when my parents left me with the monster!

Anyhow enough with the bad memories.....I found something that Ferris would be proud of.  The following is a complete technique guide for kids aging 12-16yrs old wanting to get a cell phone.  http://www.wikihow.com/Convince-Your-Parents-to-Get-You-a-Cell-Phone  I like it!  It actually teaches some business techniques that I feel are useful:

Examples:
  1. Assess the parents - Casually drop the idea in a conversation,( not too much or else it gets annoying) say something like, "Emily sure was lucky she had a cell phone at that party or she'd have been stuck there all night." Drop some hints you might like one. If there is no reaction or agreement, then all is good. If not, identify the problem parent. If both parents are opposed, then there is little you can do 
There are even tips:

  • Go for the prepaid phone plans like Virgin Mobile, Kajeet or Tracfone. Parents will probably be more likely to spring for plans that eliminate running up a huge bill. True, they may not be the coolest or nicest phones, but, hey, isn't better than not having a phone?
  • Any Verizon phone is compatible with their Pre-Pay plan. If other prepay services do not offer the phone for you, consider Verizon's prepay.
  • You parents may offer to get you a FireFly, or JitterBug. While the latter is for older adults, a cell phone is better than nothing, and you can always negotiate a better phone a couple of months into the future

Chat Roulette Classics - making smiles

Call me a slow moving grandpa, but I just discovered a website called Chatroulette thanks to @bastenbroeke and it's making me LOL this Saturday morning.  I think most of my friends don't know it, so it short, it's a website where you can random chat with strangers online either texting or webcam.  Crazy enough...it was started by a 17yr old kid from Moscow.  Nelly!....maybe you know him :)

So what kind of people use this?  I assume you have a mix from creepy's to celebs.  My friend showed me the site quickly and out of 10 strangers that appeared in the room, I think we saw 2 guys showing the "danger zone", a girl showing her pair of "cha chas" and the rest were normal ppl looking for a chat. 

But there's some creative ones too !! And that's what I'm sharing....maybe I can try my poetry improv here for practice.
