My friend the DJ : Jay Envy

One of my friends in Atlanta just released a mixtape and it can be downloaded at http://www.mediafire.com/?ejj1cmgzflm

Bigs props to this kid for sticking to his dream.  I remember back in the high school days when he told me that one day he wants to become a DJ.....now he's performing weekly at some of the hottest ATL clubs.....that's dedication and a tune worth grooving!

You can get in touch with him at http://www.facebook.com/Jay.Envy

Poetry inspiration needed

The past couple of weeks have been crazy with so much work to do. It's been getting to my colleagues a bit, and so we are definitely looking for ways to escape.

Well my escape is writing a bit. I'm working on a little poem that I hope to put together by the end of the week. We'll see what turns of it, but doing such things also gives me a chance to look for some inspiration.

And of course, I gotta head back to fav Mr. Talib. For those of you that don't know, I wrote my finally thesis at Duke relating to moving the social masses, but incorporated ideas from one of Talib's videos. In case you're curious which one, it was "I try" feating Mary J. Blige.

But I just discovered a video that I new saw before....not too shabby, but it helps get the blood pumping through the brain cells.

Rock on creativity!

Showing off Atlanta, my home

Having made the panorama photo, it had thinking of creating things a little more complicated, yet cooler. Currently I'm looking for ways to create photos where you can rotate images in a 360degree fashion. Well I haven't found a way quite yet, if only I had photoshop cs4, but I did find a cool service that I wanted to show.

Have fun with this program. Hopefully I'll figure out how to do the same type photos real soon

H&M-effect in Atlanta....run!!!!

This article was shared by one of my friends, Chris. btw, I hope things are great man and I'll be back in the A around end of July and thirsty for a coke. U around?

H&M is coming to Atlanta! Now for most, this is totally a cool thing. Who wouldn't want a low-cost/quality store coming to their area? That's a good thing. For me, thinking of such stores takes me back to my hair-on-my-head days working at Goody's Family Clothing and how I used to have to fold women's jeans all damn day. I think this experience scarred me for life and maybe it explains why I don't really like to shop for clothes. exaggerated...yes, but maybe there's some truth to it.

Anyhow H&M is coming to Atlantic Station. (Atlanta Business Chronicle here) Scary part about it is that Berlin, where I'm staying, has about 5 stores on 1 street and many more around the city. And they sell practically the same stuff, although I did see a special H&M just selling bras and undies. :-) My turkish colleagues are obsessed with this place. They went almost once or twice every week while in Berlin! If they are reading and think I'm exaggerating, I'm not! They went crazy for clothes that went on sale after already being offered at sale prices. The thing that gets me is that many of these same clothes are produced in Turkey or can be bought there at cheaper prices. Why not by a Berlin brand of clothes? They knew that they would be returning home in a month or two, so why not just wait and save themselves from having too many kilos in their luggage.

I guess H&M is simply irresistible to some, and price is a significant factor for students. Maybe the H&M effect is like a hamburger is to me. Oh well. If anyone ever tries to give me a lecture again about Americanization in the world, I'm bringing up this example of Swedish-nization (I should patent this word) and their meatballs! Yikes
